The Great Separation - Explained
Ok. We had a good run. But it’s time to give it up and admit. It's over.
We fought a civil war, but it’s not about north vs south. Or east vs west.
It’s about left vs right.
FAR left vs FAR right.
And we moderates are tired of being caught in the crossfire.
So, we propose a pragmatic solution. No need for violence. Everybody gets what they want. After years of accelerating political polarization, a dramatic but pragmatic solution can be reached: The Great Separation. The goal is simple: end the ideological war by giving each extreme its own sovereign territory. This will mark the end of the American experiment, and for the first time since the Civil War, the US will fracture along ideological, vice geographic, fault lines.
The 8% of the American populace (26 million, 147 thousand, 056) identifying with the far-left movement will relocate to the state formerly known as California, which will be renamed Antifornia. Simultaneously, the estimated 6% of the far-right (19 million, 610 thousand, 292) will consolidate in Texas, which will be renamed Magastan. The logistics will be difficult: a controlled, two-year mass exodus involving millions of citizens. Those in Texas who are not far-right will move, while California’s moderate and conservative populations will do the same. The result will be two nations that are ideologically pure but potentially economically fragile, having lost critical infrastructure, labor, and capital during the move.
The other 48 states will become the Moderate States of America (MSA). Comprising approximately 86% of the population and most of the landmass, the MSA is not a political monolith but a coalition bound by a shared exhaustion with extremism and a foundational belief in compromise. Its population is diverse, including, centrists, moderate conservatives, and pragmatists who simply want stable governance.
The MSA inherits the immense task of national reconstruction and defining the new normal. While the exodus sheds the most ideologically disruptive elements, it also leaves the MSA with holes in its economic and geographic fabric. Crucial port infrastructure and significant technological hubs have been ceded to Antifornia, and major energy resources and agricultural land have been lost to Magastan. The immediate challenge for the MSA government is to stabilize the global economy that depends on their remaining financial centers and to secure the borders with their new neighbors. Their founding principle will be "Pragmatism over Purity," focusing on infrastructure, trade, and diplomacy to prevent the two extremist states from dragging the moderate majority into new conflicts.
The next three sections will discuss how each nation will govern.
It should also be noted here, as it will be noted in the next three sections that there is a simpler solution:
Stop following the lead of the 14%
Elect Moderates. The 86%.
Compromise.
Just a thought.

Magastan
The sovereign nation of Magastan will be forged in the heart of Texas, establishing its new capital, Trump City, in the former Democratic bastion of Austin. Its founding philosophy is based on absolute loyalty to its leader and the total rejection of liberal democracy.
The obvious choice for the first President of Magastan is Donald J. Trump. The new nation will be structured based on a critical review of the old U.S. founding documents. The Declaration of Independence is deemed unnecessary, given that Magastan faces no enemy like King George III. More fundamentally, the constitutional system of checks and balances—designed to prevent any single branch from becoming too powerful—is deemed inefficient and counterproductive.
The solution is predictable: Magastan will be governed by a single branch of government: the Executive. The President alone holds the power to make the laws, enforce the laws, and interpret the laws. This ensures no deep state, no Congress with the power of the purse, and no judicial review which would dare check the President's authority. The system is unburdened by a Bill of Rights, term limits, or government shutdowns. All military personnel and citizens must swear an oath of personal allegiance to the President. Following the movement of populations, Magastan will enforce a total ban on immigration, erecting a fortified border to preserve ideological purity. Come to think of it, seems like we’ve seen this sort of thing once or twice before.
Military and Naval Power: Magastan inherits significant former U.S. military assets, including Fort Cavazos and the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. The former Texas National Guard forms the core of the Magastan Armed Forces (MAF), prioritizing ground strength and air superiority over its land borders. Its Gulf Coast access is vital, providing deep-water ports for a nascent, offensively-focused Magastan Navy. The MAF's doctrine is rapid self-defense and border integrity, viewing any transgression as an act of war, all funded by an aggressively deregulated oil and gas economy.

Antifornia
Antifornia rises from the ashes of California, dedicated to establishing a genuine, far-left socialist republic. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is elected President, with Bernie Sanders serving as Vice President, implementing radical policies aimed at a total redistribution of wealth. The top income tax rate is set at 65%, funding universal social programs and massive green infrastructure projects. In a humanitarian counterpoint to Magastan, there are no borders with open immigration, resulting in a massive, immediate influx of new residents seeking refuge and socialist benefits, placing unprecedented strain on the state’s commitment to universal healthcare for all. The high tax burden triggers significant capital flight, threatening to erode the very tax base needed to sustain its ambitious programs.
The state's founding documents are immediately overhauled to dismantle the legal basis of capitalism and centralized power. The Supreme Court of Antifornia (SCA) will strike down the Second Amendment and initiate amendments that eliminate the Fifth Amendment's "just compensation" clause for property seizures, declaring all major means of production to be collective social property. New constitutional articles enshrine, the establishment of a "Second Bill of Rights" that guarantee every resident universal basic income, housing, and healthcare. Furthermore, the Contract Clause will be eliminated, allowing the government to restructure or void exploitative private contracts, legally mandating equity over property rights. Finally, all obsolete U.S. Federal constitutional structures—such as the Electoral College will be dismissed as irrelevant to the new direct-democracy republic.
Antifornia inherits a massive portion of the former U.S. Navy's Pacific infrastructure, centered at San Diego and San Francisco. The Antifornia defense force, rebranded as the People's Collective Guard (PCG), is focused almost exclusively on global trade. Its fleet assets are crucial for exporting green energy and receiving goods from sympathetic international socialist allies, linking the PCG's success inextricably to Antifornia's economic survival.

The Moderate States of America
The Moderate States of America (MSA)—The 48 remaining states— emerges from the Great Separation not crippled, but purified and poised for unparalleled stability. While the MSA reluctantly sheds the immense economic and strategic wealth of California and Texas, it gains something far more valuable: unity. The departure of the far-right and the far-left eliminates the constitutional crisis of gridlock, allowing the MSA Congress to finally compromise and get things done. The new national mood is one of focused pragmatism.
The nation's first task is structural repair. In a decisive display of unity, the government must quickly appoint new, moderate federal judges to restore legal legitimacy, ensuring the Supreme Court once again serves as a beacon of stable, centrist jurisprudence. Signaling a new era of responsible governance, Congress is set to quickly ‘fix’ the Second Amendment to protect legitimate gun rights while simultaneously implementing common-sense measures designed to protect our children.
The MSA will quickly elect a new generation of leaders dedicated to service, not self-interest, naming Pete Buttigieg as its first President. Under his administration, the MSA will immediately restore its standing on the world stage, moving from a global laughing stock to a respected partner. President Buttigieg will make it clear that restoring fiscal integrity is paramount: the MSA will implement a balanced, multi-party plan to manage and pay down the national debt. Critically, the MSA retains the bulk of the former US military force, using its unified command structure and superior logistics to secure its borders and project a credible deterrent force. The MSA is no longer a fractured superpower, but a stable democracy finally realizing its full potential.
It should also be noted here, that there is a simpler solution:
Stop following the lead of the 14%
Elect Moderates. The 86%.
Compromise.
