As the editor, I recall 1998, when President Clinton was accused of sexual misconduct. He looked into the camera and categorically denied "having sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky." Though I wasn't a fan, I felt at the time that a president's direct denial should be taken at face value. Simpler times…

We are opening this page to track developments relating to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. While the initial emails from the Epstein estate, hint at a deeper relationship, there is no smoking gun—yet. Our position is twofold: If this amounts to nothing more than "guilt by association," then we should all move on.

However, if clear and credible evidence emerges proving the President, or ANYONE else, not currently in jail, is guilty of something reprehensible, then we expect true accountability. That accountability should extend to the Attorney General and any legislators working to keep such evidence from the public.

For now, we will simply follow the breaking news. We will also, for the moment, presume the President has perfectly valid and legitimate reasons for working so hard to keep the Epstein files from ever seeing the light of day.
